Visit a winery at Agios Pavlos
At Agios Pavlos, the vineyards are spread in low hills. They abut on the sea which counterpoises with its aura the extreme summer temperatures. The climate is ideal for cultivating top quality Greek varieties such as Roditis and Xinomavro as well as Sauvignon blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon which produce the Vins de Pays de Halkidiki: a bright, fruity, vivid white wine and a deep coloured, rich and round red. It's truly a gastronomic experience to visit the largest vineyard of Greece (4.750 hectares) -owned by Tsantali family- located in Agios Pavlos and taste the excellent local wines, on the location they are produced, accompanied by mouth-watering traditional local dishes.
About the vineyard
The Tsantali family has been cultivating vineyards, making wines and distilling ouzo and tsipouro since 1890. Evangelos Tsantalis, second-generation winemaker and one of the most charismatic figures in the Greek winemaking history, has rendered the local family business into a rapidly developing brand name, always at the forefront of innovation. The vineyard has always been the core of the Tsantali philosophy. The rejuvenation of some of the most exquisite vineyards in Northern Greece like Mount Athos and Halkidiki, Rapsani and Maronia, is attributed to the family’s vision; thanks to the Tsantali’s dedication and strategic investment, today outstanding traditions are safely kept, biodiversity and native grapes are preserved and incentive has been given to younger vine growers and winemakers.
